I, too, managed to get through about 2/3 of *Indigenous Continent* before it was overdue at the library. It's one I want to get back to - thanks for the prompt! Currently reading: *The Sempstress Tale* (medieval nun, murder mystery), *Small Victories* (Anne Lamott), *Nature's Best Hope* (Doug Tallamy). One for upstairs, one for downstairs, and ...

Ah, you're the first person I've heard of who's read (part of) Indigenous Continent, too! I hope to get back to it on a train ride to and from NYC this weekend. Lots of other great reads you've got there! How do you like Doug Tallamy?

Just in the first chapter ... I've heard so much about him that I had to give it a try ... he writes well and is engaging. Re: Indigenous Continent ... it does shift perspective ... I will likely have to start over when I get back to it ... ;-)

I'm finishing up Born a Crime by Trevor Noah and also reading Dilettante: True Tales of Excess, Triumph and Disaster by Dana Brown, former deputy editor at Vanity Fair. Two starkly different memoirs!

Hi Kathy, Indigenous Continent sounds like a great follow up to what I’m reading - Man of Two Faces by Viet Thanh Nguyen. He has a few thoughts on America - its colonialism, imperialism and cruelty - viewed through his refugee experience. Nguyen uses poetry techniques and form to add depth and keep this moving. I’m enthralled. I have until the 16th to finish.

I loved his Sympathizer, though its sequel The Committed was weaker. The Sympathizer led me to read a string of Vietnam books - Frank Snepp’s Decent Interval and Joan Didion’s Democracy were my favorites.

On a lighter note I put aside Trust and I picked up All the Beauty in the World by Patrick Bringley, a one time New Yorker employee turned Metropolitan Museum of Art security guard. I will be revisiting the Met. I haven't been since COVID. While fun, this is a book that could have been a long-form essay - but I understand the appeal of publishing a book.
