Thank you for this! Have been meaning to get “Orbital” so I just ordered that and “Intermezzo” from the library!

I read Blessings by Anna Quindlen this week for my women's church group. We should have good discussion about this story of an 81-year--old woman and the "young" man who works as her handyman and groundskeeper. A baby is left in a box on the garage steps, and they keep the baby until a break-in leads to its discovery. Lots to talk about - qualities of a good parent, facing truths about one's past and oneself, forgiveness, grief, responses to changes in culture, and more. For book club, I've also read her Rise and Shine (which I don't remember) and After Annie. Blessings is the one I would recommend.

The River We Remember by William Kent Krueger is the next fiction. I'm starting it this weekend while we travel for the 4th.

I've never read Anna Quindlen (except for her old NY Times columns), but thanks for the recommendation on Blessings!

I'm happy you are having a good reading year, and liking Normal People.

I loved Intermezzo, it was good to the very last page. I then gave copies to others for Christmas. By contrast, I couldn’t stomach Normal People which I tried to read a few years ago. Maybe that was my mood more than the book?

Almost done with The Lighthouse. Looking for a book with a more defined plot for my next read.

Haha, I know what you mean about To the Lighthouse. Was it the characters in Normal People you couldn't stomach?

Yes, they seemed trivial or selfish in a narrow way, not that I read far enough to give the novel a chance.
