I love animals so I've really got to get around to reading some non-fiction about them! I'm about to finish All My Mothers by Joanna Glen.

Have you read H Is for Hawk?

I got 75% through on audio years ago and never finished 🙈

Interesting--because I listened to the audio, too, and I got tired of the reader. Not sure whether it was the author herself. I did finish, but I think I would have enjoyed it better in print.

I'm reading Blonde by JCO. I read her short story this week in the New Yorker, loved it, and remain fascinated by her career. I figured I'd read about two famous women at once. Blonde has some parallels with the New Yorker story, which also had some parallels with JCO's personal life and Marylin's has always been the stuff of gossip.

What an interesting topic for Joyce Carol Oates. And it sounds like the two of them are all twisted up. Have you ever seen the photo of Marilyn reading Ulysses on a playground?

As a companion to "The Soul of an Octopus" I suggest you read "Remarkably Bright Creatures" by Shelby Van Pelt.

Thank you! I knew there was another octopus book that came out around the same time--but fiction, right?

Yes. It's fiction, featuring a very charming octopus.
