A delightful interview, Kathy. It keeps one optimistic about the "future of books." You and I both know the special pleasure of doing a reading in a bookstore. Suzanna underscores the intangible "why" of that.
I thought I told you. We started recording pre Covid, then my moderator broke her femur and was out of commission for awhile. Whew. Will be starting another soon. Am reading The Bluest Eye by Morrison; parts are quite funny but I know what’s coming. It’s for our Banned Books discussion on Monday evening.
Hi Kathy...with our ancient equipment at Milford Library, we finally finished recording A Violet Season and i had to laugh reading your interview comments about the pile of literary magazines in a pile, waiting TBR. As I’ve said, it was a delight to read, a second time!
Thank you, Kathy, this was interesting! I stumbled across Oblong Books a couple of years when I was is in the area, and it is a gem! Fabulous kid section, too. And I think it was Susanna who recommended the “Poop Bingo,” noting it’s extraordinarily popular with toddlers. She was right. Huge hit.
A couple of other thoughts: I’m in the midst of reading “The Colony,” which I think you recommended a few weeks ago? I need to go back and look at that. It’s really good, though not always easy going… but I thought the opening chapter was fabulous- very funny, spot on with the language and perspectives.
Last week I read “A Violet Season.” I thoroughly enjoyed it, and really appreciated your research. Interestingly, I read “Flower, Confidential,“ a couple of months ago, about the floral industry (my daughter is a designer). It discusses the violet farms in California. You might find that interesting.

Glad you enjoyed it!

I think you did tell me, but it's still nice to hear! The Bluest Eye--a tough one. I hope you have a great discussion.

So glad you've found Oblong, too. And The Colony. And Flower Confidential, which I also read recently. Great minds think alike! ;)
Ha! That’s funny! Maybe I read about it in your blog?
Could be LOL!
